The Congressional Budget Office and Joint Committee on Taxation have provided estimates of the Senate Democrats’ health bill,聽called “The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” (.pdf).聽According to this 36-page analysis, the legislation would “yield a net reduction in federal deficits of $130 billion over the 2010-2019 period.” In addition, an explanation posted this morning on聽CBO Director Douglas Elmendorf’s notes that the bill would reduce the number of non-elderly uninsured by about 31 million and its total cost tallies an estimated $848 billion in the same time period.
