Tavenner Wasn’t Consulted On Delaying Health Law鈥檚 Employer Mandate

Marilyn Tavenner is the acting administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services

Marilyn Tavenner said at a House subcommittee meeting Wednesday that she was not consulted on the Obama administration鈥檚 decision to postpone a key part of the health law requiring employers offer health insurance plans to their workers.

Tavenner, the administrator of the聽Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services,聽said she was “made aware” that the Obama administration was on June 24 or 25, a week before it was publicly announced.

The top CMS official also said she has been part of the health law implementation process throughout, and was on vacation when the decision was made — although she said she was available by phone.
