Advocates Seek 4 Years Of Funding For Children's Health Insurance Program
Although a proposal to fix the pay formula for Medicare doctors contains a provision to extend the children's health insurance program through 2017, some advocates are seeking four years of funding.
The federal-state Children鈥檚 Health Insurance Program (CHIP) will run out of money on Sept. 30. Until recently, Congress showed little interest in paying for it. But this week, the House agreed on a bill that would continue the $13 billion program in its current form through 2017. (Vestal, 3/20)
