Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey signed a controversial bill Monday that requires abortion providers to tell women they can reverse the effects of a drug-induced abortion. The new law also bars women from buying healthcare plans through the federal marketplace that include abortion coverage, although an exception allows insurance in cases of rape, incest and when a woman's life is endangered. As the Texas House prepares for a floor fight Tuesday over its budget, a flurry of amendments filed by Democrats seeks to defund the state's Alternatives to Abortion program. A group of Democratic lawmakers filed more than a dozen amendments to either reduce or eliminate funding for the program, which provides "pregnancy and parenting information” to low-income women.
